Walk -in- Workshop

You are invited to experience and create your own works of Art in Glass.

Don't worry if you aren't an Artist no experience is required !.

 

In the Walk-in Workshop we have a variety of hands-on-glass activities

Artists Maricela & Emilio will help you create your own glass art keepsake.

 

Activity prices range from $ 35 - $ 71 usd per person

 Included are materials, use of tools, use of kiln when required and botled beverage.

Artwork will be picked up at a later date or may be delivered to your Hotel.

Create a small scale weareable fused piece of Art. 
These small fusing projects use all the same techniques as large pieces.
The pendant can either have a hole runningthrough it or a metal finding. 
Marisela & Emilio will teach you how to score the glass and will give you design tips to help you create your work of Art

You begin by selecting the color of your glass base,then add small glass frits to create an image or pattern.

You begin by selecting the style and size of platter you would like to create.
Then you pick a base piece of flat glass upon wich you will create
an image or abstract decoration.
Marisela & Emilio will teach you how to score the glass using a carbide glass
cutter and will give you tips to help you create a work of art
Fusing and Slumping Glass Summary 

To fuse, each piece is heated in our kiln to 1,480 degrees.
Over the course of 17 hours the small decorate pieces of glass
 fuse or "melts" into one piece.
Some pieces require a second firing this is called the slumping cycle.
During this second firing the fused piece of glass is heated on a ceramic mold
so that it slumps "falls" or "sags" into your chosen shape.

All fused and slumped artwork must be picked up at a later date.
Processing time depends on firing schedule.
It is recommended to discuss with Walk-In Workshop staff your exact time frame.
Project Time Length 

The time it takes to complete a project varies.
The general rule is that the larger projects the more time it takes
because there is more surface area to decorate.
Most fusing and slumping projects take 60 to 90 minutes to design.
These time estimates differ depending on the individual.
Pick-Up or Shipping 
 
Please speak with Marisela & Emilio at the time the piece is designed
to estimate a pickup time for fused and slumped pieces.
$ 5 charge apply to deliver any piece to your Hotel. 
The Walk-In Workshop deliver on Tuesdays and Fridays.
